Considering Architecture

Architecture as infrastructure

Envisaging the final model to be a combination of infrastructural elements that work together within the valley site. Concrete roads, bridges and tunnels all connect the 2 sides of the valley together through motion and one set of architectural language. The swooshing concrete elements create a feeling of fast motion through space. Solid, concrete shapes give uniformity to the scheme and make it feel like one whole - thus infrastructure.

Crysis Screenshots

Below are the final images of my model from Crysis. The labs are placed in harsh Arctic terrain, where Charles Darwin could explore the ways that local animals adapted to cold climate and Stephen Hawking could study astronomy (since major cities are located in warmer areas, and so the Arctic provides less visual pollution) .

Sunset, standing on top of Darwin's lab.

Approaching the landform and building from the sea.

Bird's eye view - tall tower is Hawkin's lab, box on the platform is Darwin's lab. Also seen - the ramps and the meeting space.

It's clear that all the geometry evolved from just one basic shape - the cube - and through the use of extrusion and negative spaces, a complex shape was created.

Meeting Space at night

Simple geometrical shapes combine together and evolve to suit into the environment - recall electroliquid quote.

Passage from the meeting space to the bay.

I put a number of lights in the water to create an Aurora-looking effect. That echoes the concept of electroliquid aggregation, fusing different things to make them work together and create something entirely different.
